<p>
Lynne and I just returned from 4 days in NYC,
which included a large number of museums:
<ul>
<li>
Guggenheim: the works, and the building itself,
must have seemed very modern in the 60's, but now
both seem old and lifeless.

<li>
Museum of Modern Art: I disproportionate number of Picassos,
to which I have a strong allergy.

<li>
Frick: the mansion and private collection of a
late tycoon, augmented with other works.
Several priceless Vermeers.
Generally awe-inspiring.

<li>
Whitney: currently, a pre-millenial retrospective
covering American art (and other cultural artifacts)
from 1900-1950.  Comprehensive and great, a bit overwhelming.
<li>
PS 1: converted school in Brooklyn.
"Modern Art": piles of trash, inflatable Barney.  Yuck.
</ul>
<p>
I was interviewed on SETI@home in the ABC building,
and ran from there to the Steinway showroom,
where Erica X-Y was enchanted with Weinberg's playing.
<p>
Also of note: Staten Island Ferry, camel-toe woman.
Lynne's $350 show purchase.
Beacon Hotel (recommended).
Bad Napoleon.
Berg playing Medtner.
Deserted, quiet streets (memorial day).
Beautiful walks through Central Park.
